Paint & Pause (In-person)
March 7th, 10-11:30am
Carriage Barn Art Center, New Canaan
Join us for a soothing and creative morning designed to help you slow down, relax, and reconnect—with yourself and your creativity.
This special experience is co-led by Diane Barnett of Grounded Meditation and artist Jen Faye Colombo, blending mindfulness, sound, and expressive art in a supportive, welcoming space.
Begin with a sound bath meditation, allowing calming tones and vibrations to gently quiet the mind and relax the body. This listening journey helps release tension, ease the nervous system, and create a sense of spaciousness—perfectly setting the tone for creative exploration.
Following the sound bath, Jen will guide participants through an expressive watercolor painting experience. Using simple techniques and intuitive prompts, you’ll be invited to explore color, movement, and self-expression without pressure or expectation. No art experience is needed—this is not about creating a “perfect” painting, but about enjoying the process and letting creativity flow.

A gentle, creative invitation to finally relax and come home to yourself.
You’ve tried all the things: meditation, yoga, long walks, journaling.
And still… something in your body, your mind, your spirit won’t quite let go.
You crave a pause. A true exhale.
Enter watercolor.
A soft and soothing way to rest and create — two ideas that seem at odds, but come together beautifully here.
What to Expect:
Watercolor + Rest is a guided experience to help you slow down, breathe, and explore your inner calm through color.
No painting skills required. No pressure. No perfection.
Simply soft brushes, flowing water, and the gentle motion of paint on paper.
Think you’re not creative?
Or it’s been so long, you’re not sure you’ll do it right?
This is not about being “artistic” — it’s about presence, process, and play.
And here’s the beautiful surprise: what you create might just take your breath away.
We begin by breathing and pausing.
I offer calming watercolor invitations — simple, playful, open-ended.
You choose what feels right.
There is time to share or quietly reflect.
Think of this time like journaling with art supplies:
No rules. No judgment. Only honest, creative release.
Why It Works:
Watching color bloom in water is mesmerizing.
Moving your brush across the page relaxes your nervous system.
Play invites your inner child and your wise adult self to show up.
Gentle creativity opens the door to presence, peace, and even unexpected inspiration.
Every session is different. Every creation reveals something new. Every time, it’s yours.
Come exactly as you are.
All you need is a simple watercolor set (even your kid’s will do!) and a willingness to loosen your grip — just a little.
If meditation has never quite landed, this could be your way in.
If true rest feels out of reach, this practice might gently rewrite that story.
